Patients of Sparrow’s Breast Cancer Clinic have another measure of the outstanding quality of care they will receive while undergoing treatment.
The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) has granted three-year accreditation to the Breast Cancer Clinic following a rigorous evaluation of the clinic’s performance in nearly 30 indicators of quality Patient care.
NAPBC accreditation is a voluntary program only granted to hospitals that agree to undergo a strict survey of its procedures.
The NAPBC program is administered by the American College of Surgeons, which reviewed the Breast Cancer Clinic on key areas: leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.
“A breast cancer diagnosis can be one of the scariest, most confusing times in a woman’s life,” said Sharon Cosgrove, RN, Breast Nurse Navigator, who works with every Patient to understand her care plan. “As a cancer survivor myself, I know how important it is for Patients to understand they are receiving the best possible care. This accreditation is one more assurance to patients that we will guide them through their treatment with only the highest standards of care.”
The Breast Cancer Clinic is located within Sparrow’s Cancer Center, 1215 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing. The clinic’s multidisciplinary team of specialists includes a breast surgeon, clinical trials specialist, genetics counselor, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, pathologist, and breast cancer support group volunteer. The team also works with our partners at the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
