LANSING, Mich. - Sparrow Regional Medical Supply (SRMS) has been awarded one of the Michigan Quality Council's (MQC) 2009 Michigan Quality Leadership Awards, regarded as one most prestigious awards in the state.

The MQC's leadership award program is modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality award program that evaluates an organization for excellence in seven performance categories - leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce focus, process management and organizational results. It is awarded after a rigorous review by a team of examiners who perform a comprehensive site visit and then submit a report for final evaluation to an independent panel of judges.

"It is an honor to receive our state's highest honor for organizational performance excellence," said SRMS Executive Director Darwin Brewster. "This was truly a team effort and could not have been accomplished without the involvement of everyone moving toward the same goal - to provide excellent customer service for every person, every time, without exception."

SRMS provides home medical equipment and supplies to more than 12,000 patients from five locations throughout mid-Michigan.

"Sparrow Regional Medical Supply serves as a role model for other organizations in Michigan," said Geri Markley, executive director of the MQC. "It has created a culture that focuses on customer satisfaction and serving the needs of its patients to return them to health as quickly as possible."
