4th Annual Nursing Research Symposium draws 100+ nurses

Sparrow hosted its 4th Annual Nursing Research Symposium Friday with more than 130 Nurses in attendance from across the state.

The symposium focused on using evidence-based practices to improve quality of care and Patient outcomes and featured noted keynote speakers Bernadette Melnyk, PhD, RN, CPNP/PMHNP, FNAP, FAAN, and Ellen Fineout-Overholt, PhD, RN, FNAP, FAAN.

"This year's Symposium was a tremendous success," said Elizabeth Henry, Senior Vice President/Chief Nursing Officer. "It is very rewarding to host an event where Nurses can learn and collaborate with their colleagues from across our state."

Melnyk is Dean, Associate Vice President for Health Promotion, and Chief Wellness Officer for the Ohio State College of Nursing. She is an internationally recognized expert in evidence-based practice, intervention research, and child/adolescent mental health.

Fineout-Overholt is Dean and Professor at the Frank S. Groner Endowed Memorial School of Professional Studies and Chair of Nursing at East Texas Baptist University. Fineout-Overholt is a nationally recognized nursing leader, educator and promoter of evidence-based practice in nursing across the United States and globally.

Sparrow's Annual Nursing Research Symposium is designed to introduce Staff Nurses, Clinical Educators, and Clinical Nurse Specialists to strategies that will assist them in the use of nursing research and evidence-based practice in their daily practice.
