Mary Pat Sullivan, RN, CHPN, learned early on from her father that nurses have an important role.
“My father, Robert Thimmig, M.D., was a well-respected Physician in the Lansing area,” said Sullivan. “His admiration and respect for nurses inspired me to seek a career in nursing.”
Sullivan is honored to meet with Patients and families at what is often a very difficult time.
As a Palliative Care nurse, Sullivan assists with advance care planning and care to relieve pain, symptoms and stress caused by serious illness.
It is that Patient-centered care that earned Sullivan recognition in Sparrow’s Caregiver Spotlight. Sparrow is honoring those who go above and beyond making sure the needs of the Patient are always first.
Sullivan has been a Caregiver at Sparrow for 27 years in a variety of roles.
“It is a humbling honor to receive this recognition and it validates what we all do as important. At Sparrow, I continue to have the privilege to work with talented Physicians, residents, nurses, Sparrow leaders and support staff,” Sullivan said. “When you share a common goal, it makes it a great place to work.”
