Published: Dec. 10, 2013

The Sparrow Hospital Women's Board of Managers and Sparrow Hospital Volunteer Services Department have named Renee Ozburn of Williamston the December volunteer of the month.

Ozburn was born and raised in Detroit. Upon graduation from high school she came to East Lansing where she attended Michigan State University and graduated with a degree in education. To further her education, she entered Cooley Law School and graduated in 1980. Since then, she has worked as an Administrative Law Judge for the State of Michigan.

Despite working full time, Ozburn has devoted many hours over the past 10 years as a Volunteer in Sparrow's Emergency Department. She feels very few activities are as fulfilling as providing comfort and smiles to Patients and their families during periods of anxiety and stress.

Those she works with find her to be enthusiastic, compassionate and always ready and willing to fill in as needed in the ED. Ozburn has served as president of the ED Volunteer group, which further exhibits her capabilities and willingness to serve.
