Sparrow Carson Hospital has received national recognition for placing among an elite group of hospitals nationally in how it treats its Patients.

Sparrow Carson has been named a 2015 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner for Outstanding Patient Experience by Press Ganey Associates, Inc. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing health care organizations that have consistently achieved the 95th percentile or above of performance in patient experience.

Sparrow Carson was one of only three Michigan hospitals to receive the award. “We’ve always been proud to serve our community. Receiving this award reinforces our commitment to our Patients and applauds our Caregivers’ efforts,” said Matt Thompson, Sparrow Carson Hospital President and CEO.

The award is an important recognition from the industry’s leader in measuring, understanding and improving the Patient experience, Thompson said.

As an example of how it won the award, Sparrow Carson’s Emergency Department showcased very low wait times for the approximately 11,000 Patients it saw last year. Patient arrival to Triage and to Treatment Rooms was less than three minutes, and arrival to a Provider averaged only 17 minutes.

“This award is a testament to the organization’s leadership in delivering of patient-centered care. By achieving and sustaining this level of excellence, Sparrow Carson demonstrates its commitment to reducing Patient suffering and advancing the overall quality of health care,” said Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey.
