Sparrow Foundation Caregivers give back to those in need

Published: July 10, 2014

Caregivers from the Sparrow Foundation took a break from supporting quality care at Sparrow to take a tour of the Volunteers of America Michigan (VOAMI) facility and dish out delicious dinners at VOAMI's Community Kitchen.

The Community Kitchen, located at 430 N. Larch in Lansing, serves more than 130,000 meals to the homeless and hungry each year!

Foundation Caregivers Cindy Artibee, Pat Davis, Abigail Bhattacharyya, Sandra Moore, Heather Muylle-Mossing, and Shela Dubenion-Smith gave their time and worked the dinner shift at the kitchen on July 9.

Sparrow is collaborating with VOAMI to open a new medical clinic in Lansing to serve the area's homeless, the first such project between a health system and VOAMI in Michigan. The clinic opened onsite at 430 N. Larch and provides care for underserved Patients, many of whom are physically disabled and/or suffer from mental illness.
