Sparrow Medical Group providers excel in use of EMR

Sparrow Medical Group providers have reached a major milestone in the implementation and use of electronic medical records or EMR.

One hundred percent of eligible providers have met the criteria to attest that the records are used in a meaningful way, enhancing Patient care.

This “meaningful use” achievement is within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services EHR Meaningful Use Program for the 2015 program year.

“Almost everything we as Caregivers do, from ordering tests to updating Patient charts after an exam, is available in an electronic format that we can audit and review,” said Doug Edema, M.D., Vice President, Sparrow Medical Group. “The quality of Patient care is enhanced and so is our ability to track how we are delivering quality, compassionate care.”

Sparrow is committed to being recognized as a national leader in quality and Patient experience. This type of innovation and use of technology helps improve health services.

Sparrow ambulatory providers implemented an EMR system in 2010. This EMR enables Patient-centered care by providing improved Patient documentation, a secure, confidential Patient medical record and patient portal, MySparrow, improved care coordination, and reduced errors.
