One in 26 people will develop epilepsy in their lifetime. In two-thirds of Patients diagnosed with epilepsy, the cause is unknown. There is no cure.
On Thursday, Jan. 21, Sparrow Health System and the MSU HealthTeam held a community forum featuring accomplished researcher Gretchen Birbeck, M.D., University of Rochester Medical Center. The event focused on recognition, prevention and progress toward better lives.
Dr. Kvalsund, a neurophysiologist and clinical instructor at Michigan State University, has traveled and worked with Dr. Birbeck in Africa.
The Alfred & Frances Ross Foundation gave the gift that brought Dr. Birbeck to Lansing for the Epilepsy Symposium and Grand Rounds. Tim and Susan Salisbury, pictured at right, are members of Ross family.
