Summer and Grant Kleweno of Lansing celebrated the beginning of 2015 with the birth of their daughter, the first Sparrow baby of the New Year.
Maven Matilda Kleweno was born at 5:55 a.m. and weighed in at 9 pounds and 13 ounces. She was delivered by Angela Griffin M.D., residents Ahizechukwu Eke, M.D., and Thais Fortes, M.D., anesthesiologists Elizabeth Hamber, M.D., and Chris Milliken, CRNA, and nurses Samantha Hawkins and Sarah DeLeeuw.

The Klewenos like unique names. They turned to a list of “least used baby names” when deciding what to call their little girl. She is the couple’s second child. Maven will soon join big sister Juniper, 2, at home.
Maven was due several days ago.
“She was a shock,” said Summer. “We thought she’d be a couple of weeks early.”
The Klewenos had prepared for a home birth.
“When things didn’t work out at home, we were able to get to Sparrow quick,” said Grant. “We’re tired, but we have our prize.”
As Sparrow’s 2015 New Year’s Baby, Maven and her parents will receive an infant car seat along with a stuffed animal and gifts from Sparrow.
