St. Lawrence Campus Nurse honored for compassionate care

Published: Dec. 11, 2015

Margaret Griffes has been a Nurse for over 30 years in the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy unit at Sparrow Hospital St. Lawrence Campus. She brings a positive, warm demeanor and gentle approach to each and every Patient she meets.

“It is my hope as a Nurse, today and always, that we never forget how important these things are to a Patient: the reassurance of a smile, the kindness in a voice, and the understanding in a touch,” said Griffes. “These are the things they will always remember.”

Our Caregiver Spotlight honors those known for going above and beyond to provide extraordinary care. This hard-working Nurse doesn’t hesitate to help outside the workplace too. When she learned her 89-year-old neighbor was a Patient on the day of a bad snowstorm, she shoveled the woman’s driveway. The Patient later called Sparrow to commend Griffes for being a Good Samaritan during her time of need. It was one of the many acts of exceptional care that earned Griffes our January Caregiver Spotlight.
