Help from Carson Foundation kicks off Summer Reading Club

Published: July 11, 2016

The Carson Foundation has provided a grant of nearly $1,250 to purchase supplies, prizes, snacks, and as reading incentives for the Summer Reading Club at Carson City Public Library and Crystal Community Library.

The club is organized each year to help promote school-age children to continue reading throughout summer break.

The Summer Reading Club will run every Wednesday through July and is intended for children ages 4-11. However, parents, guardians, and older and younger siblings are encouraged to participate as well. Last year, Summer Reading Club programs averaged 100 children per week at Carson City and 50 children weekly at Crystal.

“The Carson Foundation Board truly believes that supporting the Summer Reading Club at the Carson City and Crystal Community Libraries will enhance the well-being of our young children. This grant, along with the provision of healthy snacks, fits within the Foundation’s mission as well as helping to promote libraries as valuable community resources,” said Gary Copp, Carson Foundation Chairman of the Board of Directors.
