Volunteer of the Month for October 2016

The Sparrow Women’s Board of Managers and the Sparrow Volunteer Services Department have named Shannon Stevens the October Volunteer of the Month.

Stevens has been volunteering as in Escorts for 2 years, once each week. A couple of friends told her about the volunteer opportunity. She is said to be very loyal and responsible, staying overtime to assist other teens and patients and has assumed a leadership role as a Teen Trainer. She also handles difficult situations very well.

The Escort group assists patients to their destination in the hospitable as well as wheeling them out to their car for the ride home. Shannon says what she likes about helping patients leaving Sparrow is their happy smiles.

As a member of the National Honor Society, Shannon volunteers with other members helping around the community. She also has a part time job at Pediatric Care of Lansing filing patient’s records. She is the daughter of Mark and Tina Stevens and the sister of brother, Adam and sister, Shelby. She enjoys Irish dancing, swimming and Psychology class at Waverly High School where she is a senior. She also enjoys the family trips to Florida twice a year. After graduation, Shannon plans to go to MSU.
