Human Trafficking

State of Michigan Education Requirement in human trafficking

  • For all licensed health care professionals - As of Jan. 4, 2017, a new law amending the Michigan Public Health Code (MCL 333.16148) requires all licensed health care professionals in the State of Michigan to complete training to identify victims of human trafficking.

Current Educational Activity

  • Human Trafficking Education Video Available: Making the Invisible Visible (no cost)

Provided by the Wayne County Medical Society, Wayne State University School of Medicine and the Michigan Human Trafficking Commission. The video is designed to meet the educational needs of all health care providers and meets the requirement for human trafficking training.

Pain Management

State of Michigan Education Requirements in pain and symptom management

  • For DOs – Beginning 1 year or more after the effective date of these rules, a minimum of 3 hours of continuing education must be earned in the area of pain and symptom

    management pursuant to section 17533(2) of the code, MCL 333.17533(2).

  • For MDs – Effective December 6, 2017 a minimum of 3 hours of continuing education must be earned in the area of pain and symptom management. (Lara State of Michigan Requirements, Public Act 368 of 1978, as amended; version 1/17).
