Sports Injury Clinic Reopens in Time for Fall Sports Season

Published: August 10, 2023

LANSING, MI – As high school athletes return to the field this week, Sparrow is reopening its Saturday Sports Injury Clinic for convenient treatment of those bumps and bruises and more serious issues that come with sports.

The experienced Sparrow Medical Group (SMG) Orthopedics and Sports Medicine team of providers and athletic trainers staff the clinic, which opens this Saturday, Aug. 12, from 8-11 a.m. and will remain open every Saturday through May (excluding major holiday weekends).

The clinic, which is geared to all high school and community athletes, provides a range of services to keep athletes healthy, including leading-edge injury treatment, X-rays, personalized home treatment plan instructions, expedited referrals for high-tech imaging, and urgent appointments with highly skilled Sparrow orthopedic surgeons if needed. No appointment is necessary, but parents and athletes should bring their insurance information to the clinic.

Sparrow has offered the same-day care option for local athletes since the Sports Injury Clinic first opened in 2009. During the week, SMG Orthopedics and Sports Medicine will also see athletes within 24 hours of suffering an injury.

“It is critical for athletes to seek care with a highly skilled specialist as soon as they can after an injury. This will allow them to return to play as quickly and safely as possible. And, when it comes to treating athletes, Sparrow has the most experienced Sports Medicine providers in Mid-Michigan,” said Orthopedic and Sports Medicine surgeon Andrew Schorfhaar, D.O.

The Sports Injury Clinic is located on the 3rd floor at 4660 S. Hagadorn Road, Suite 310, East Lansing.
