MySparrow On-Demand Video Visits Available Now

UM Health-Sparrow Health System now offers On-Demand Video Visits with UM Health-Sparrow providers for non-emergent conditions. In order to participate in an On-Demand Video Visit, you’ll need a MySparrow account. If you are using a smartphone or tablet, you will need to download the MySparrow application on your device (see below). If you don’t have a MySparrow account, you may sign up anytime by visiting UM Health-Sparrow.org/MySparrow and registering as a new user. On-Demand Video Visits are available 24/7, except for being closed on most major holidays.

When and why would you use an On-Demand Video Visit?

For common ailments like earaches, coughs, fevers, allergies, insect bites, rashes and infections, you can get the same prompt treatment you would find at a Urgent Care or Walk-In Care location without leaving your living room. Please note that narcotic medications are not prescribed through the On-Demand platform.

Who can start an On-Demand Video Visit?

On-Demand Video Visits are available for anyone who has a MySparrow account and is currently in the State of Michigan at the time of their visit.

What is the expected wait time for an On-Demand Video Visit?

Typically, the wait time for an On-Demand Video Visit ranges between 15 to 20 minutes. Please note that if you log in between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m., you may experience a longer wait time.

When are On-Demand Video Visits available?

On-Demand Video Visits are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except for being closed on most major holidays.

Are medications prescribed during an On-Demand Video Visit?

A provider can prescribe medications if it is medically necessary. Please note that narcotic medications are not prescribed through the On-Demand platform.

Where will your prescription be sent?

You will select which pharmacy you would like your prescription sent to when completing eCheck-in.

How do you request an On-Demand Video Visit?
  1. Log into your patient portal account at: MyChart.UM Health-Sparrow.org
  2. Select Menu
  3. Select On-Demand Video Visit
  4. Confirm you are currently in the State of Michigan
  5. Select what brings you in today
  6. Select to put yourself in line with the next available provider
  7. Describe the most important thing to be addressed in the visit
  8. Complete eCheck-in
  9. Join the video visit and be seen by the next available provider

*Note: Any browser other than Internet Explorer or Safari should work to connect for a Video Visit. Though, Google Chrome typically works best!

How much does an On-Demand Video Visit cost?

Most insurances cover On-Demand Video Visits; if you do not have insurance or your insurance does not cover this service, the cost of an On-Demand Video Visit is comparable to an In-Person Visit.
